    Primary An election to determine who the nominee of each party will be.
    Caucus A method of a primary where voters must spend several hours, often in the evening, voting.
    Democrat Party One of the two main political parties.

    Green Party A smaller, fringe party.
    Libertarian Party A smaller, fringe party.
    Convention An event at which a party formally names its nominee.
    Filibuster A rule allowing a Senator to prevent a vote by talking for an extended amount of time.
    Senate A voting body which votes about passing laws and votes to appoint Supreme Court Justices.
    Senator A member of the Senate, each state gets two.
